Today is the second time I have witnessed an epic battle between crows and hawks.
In America I admired seeing a rare glimpse of a hawk circling around seeking prey. Today in Hokkaido I saw close to 50 and more hawks and large numbers of crows fighting. It hit home when a crow fell in the snow near and flopped about was unable to fly again. It's shocking and gruesome, and confusing. Never liked crows, should I celebrate seeing a rare unity of hawks tearing them up? - 2021-02-01

BLOG; few weeks ago we ventured out of our northern island and explored a region on the mainland, wandering about and being tourists. One place we had dinner at by random was a phunky bohemian cafe, tasty food and kind owner. Over chit chat turns out about 8 years ago our local Hokkaido friend was at this place playing some music and left a phun happy impression on these folks. The owner gifted me some stickers. Now tonight we are returned to home and ventured out to a word of mouth tiny concert at a cozy bar with some world class musicians, we saw our local friend and I gave him the sticker. He was shocked. He told us that after the concert he has booked passage on a ship and at 3am will set sail to the same place we visited weeks before and be seeing those same peeps that he met years ago. I love the small world synchronicity like this. At the concert the opening dj played rare USA soul and funk records. I was impressed as I had no idea who any of it was but the room was swaying and rocking and everyone was groovin. I talked to the dj after and thanked him and he was very appreciative. He said normally he is the dishwasher at a local dance club but tonight he had a chance to DJ. He was totally awesome and my praise was well received. The concert was fantastic. Trio doing funk jazz dub folk had the whole crowd captivated. I feel shy being the oldest person and the only foreigner but I felt welcomed and happy. I am home.

このスレッドに、2004年3月14日21時55分に「731」により投稿された一見何気ない書き込み（749）が、物語の発端である。彼は「電車の中で酔っ払いに絡まれた女性を助けてお礼を言われた」と書き、さらに数日してから、助けたお礼にエルメスのティーカップが届けられたという書き込みをしたため、スレッドは矛盾点を指摘して「創作だ」とする意見や、逆に電車男を応援する意見、嫉妬の意見などで一気に盛り上がった。男性は当初、発言番号731を名乗っていたが、スレッド参加者は電車で運命の出会いをしたことから彼を「電車男」、相手の女性をエルメスのティーカップを贈ったことから「エルメス」と呼ぶようになり、のちに彼も「電車男」を固定ハンドルにして書き込むようになった。
彼は、「彼女いない歴＝年齢」のアキバ系ヲタクを自認し、それまでデートもしたことがないため、お礼の電話はどうするか・どうやって誘ったらいいか・どんな服装をしたらよいか、などスレッドに次々と相談を書き込んだ。これに対して、女性も含む他の参加者（スレ住人）からは様々なアドバイスが寄せられ、その甲斐あって電車男もデートを実現させ、ファッションにも気を配り、オタクグッズを処分して、次第にもてない男から成長しエルメスとの交際を進めていった。スレ住人たちは約2か月の間電車男を応援し、その報告を待ちわび、2人がどうなるかと固唾を飲んで見守っていたが、5月9日、電車男から「好きだと告白してうまくいった」旨の書き込みがあった。掲示板には多くの祝福のメッセージが寄せられた。

Few months ago while walking the beach, searching for glass and unique stones I found a rock that resembles a cookie. Today I glanced at my rock collection and was surprised to see a cookie and then I realized it was the rock. I wonder when I will repeat this situation?

植苗トーチカ : Escape the heat by hanging out near the sea wall. Earlier we had a mini adventure in the jungle and we were very ill prepared for the amount of heat, humidity, overwhelming insects. We had been searching the jungle for a hidden WWII underground bunker, it was impossible to find and we were exhausted and ready to give up when suddenly a man with butterfly nets shows up and kindly said, "follow me". We walk the trail, find the forked tree, and turn right and climb a steep hill, over and down the other side and suddenly there it was! It was a small hole so I took a picture and was ready to get away but told me to follow and he dropped and crawled through the hole. It would bad manners to refuse so I got down in the muck and squeezed myself into the pillbox. It had 3 rooms I think. I asked if it was OK to take a picture with my camera, he said yes no problem, but there are bats. I snapped a photo and woke them up of course. We all left, I thanked him very much and we fled to the ocean. My original plan was to sweep the grounds around the bunker with my metal detector but after pondering I realized this forgotten war relic could easily have live ammunition, land mines, etc.

かんぱい, went to a little pub in the sea port of Kushiro and enjoyed tasty food, Japanese baseball on the teevee, too many drinks and wonderful people. The master performed magic tricks and the locals were welcoming. I asked everyone to tell their near death experiences, always a good ice breaker topic. I also inquired about local places to find hidden treasures with my metal detector. See the paper strips on the wall? That is the menu, traditional style. oh my lords, too much phun.

Cruising the ocean frontage roads of Tomakomai we stopped to admire this little garden paradise. The owner popped out to welcome us. He once owned a cabaret club in Chitose many years ago, now at 75 he is retired and his enjoyment is to create this garden so everyone can see. He collects the sun powered bobble head toys, he claims to have over 300. As we talked I enjoyed the sound of the surf pounding & fresh salty sea air. I want to go back and visit him, record his stories on tape and bring him a solar powered toy for his collection.

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang 20世紀初頭のイギリス。あるレース用自動車は、昔グランプリに何年もの間優勝し続けたが、後のレースで事故を起こし、今では廃車置き場に放置されている。寡夫で2人の子持ちの発明家カラクタカス・ポッツは夢見る人物だが、お人好しで生活力はない。ある日、自動車が屑鉄業者に売り飛ばされることを知ったジェレミーとジェマイマは、父のポッツに代わりに買い取ってくれるように頼み込む。購入代金が30シリングという高額だったため、ポッツは代金を捻出しようとスクランプシャス製菓会社に自身が発明した「音が出るキャンディー」を売り込む。ポッツは、以前自動車事故で知り合った社長令嬢のトルーリーの助けでキャンディーの売り込みに成功するが、飼い犬のエジソンが他の犬と共に工場に乱入して売り込みを台無しにしてしまう。意気消沈したポッツだったが、子供たちの願いを叶えようと近所の祭りでお金を集め、自動車を購入する。ポッツは、有り合わせの材料で自動車を修理し、「チキ・チキ・バン・バン」と命名した自動車で、子供たちとトルーリーを誘い海にピクニックに出かける。
ピクニックを楽しむポッツは、海に浮かぶヨットを見ながら「ヨットの持ち主はバルガリア国の悪党ボンバースト男爵で、チキ・チキ・バン・バンを奪いに来た」と聞かせる。ボンバースト男爵はチキ・チキ・バン・バンを奪おうと攻撃してくるが、船に変形したチキ・チキ・バン・バンは軽々とヨットから逃げ出してしまう。ボンバースト男爵は手下のスパイに命令してチキ・チキ・バン・バンとポッツの誘拐を命令するが、間違ってポッツの父バンジーを誘拐してしまう。ボンバースト男爵に誘拐されるバンジーを見かけたポッツたちは、飛行機に変形したチキ・チキ・バン・バンに乗りバルガリアに向かう。バルガリアに連れて来られたバンジーは、「一日で空を飛ぶ自動車を作らなければ死刑にする」とボンバースト男爵に命令され、誘拐されて来た他の発明家と共に自動車を作ることになる。
一方、バルガリアに到着したポッツたちは、町に子供がいないことに疑問を持つ。そこにバルガリア軍とチャイルドキャッチャーが現れ、親切なおもちゃ屋に匿われる。ポッツは、おもちゃ屋から「男爵夫人の命令で子供は連れ去られてしまう」と聞かされる。バルガリア軍がチキ・チキ・バン・バンを見付けて城に持ち帰った後、ポッツは、おもちゃ屋の案内でボンバースト男爵の城を偵察に行くが、その隙に子供たちがチャイルドキャッチャーに連れ去られてしまう。ポッツとトルーリーは、おもちゃ屋に連れられ城の地下の洞窟に案内され、逃げ延びた町の子供たちと出会い、協力してボンバースト男爵を倒そうとする。次の日、ボンバースト男爵の誕生日を迎え、城では貴族たちがパーティーを開いていた。おもちゃ屋はボンバースト男爵におもちゃの人形を献上するが、人形はポッツとトルーリーの変装だった。ポッツはボンバースト男爵をロープで天井に吊るし、それを合図に町の大人と子供たちが城に突入する。混乱の中、ポッツたちは子供たちとバンジーを助け出し、ボンバースト男爵と男爵夫人は町の子供たちに捕まる。チキ・チキ・バン・バンを取り返したポッツたちは、町の人々に見送られイギリスに戻る。
