A R T I S T’ S S T A T E M E N T
If what a tree or bush does is lost on you,
You are surely lost.
Stand still.
The forest know
Where you are.
You must let it find you.
“Higher†-David Waggonner
I exclaim
As I reach tree line
where earth meets sky.
The wind blows strongly
Unobstructed
Except for the bristlecone pines,
the highest and longest living things on earth.
Their roots reaching back thousands of years
Back when the Pyramids and Stonehenge
came into being.
2600 BC
Their branches spiral upward balancing
in the ever changing wind
I breathe it all in.
Looking out on this majestic vista,
The real becomes Surreal.
The Surreal, Ethereal.
I sense the Solidity
And the Fluidity.
Nothing remains the same.
The winds bring change.
I immortalize this moment
This Now in paint.
Holding steadfast to the truth
Honestly
I open my heart
And listen to the trees
Painting
To Feed hungry souls.
Stand still. Listen.
