The next issue of A Cafe in Space: The Anais Nin Literary Journal is coming soon. In the new Volume 8, there are previously unknown letters between Nin, husband Hugh Guiler, and lover Rupert Pole during the final two years of Nin's life. Not only do we discover how Nin wished to free herself of Guiler, but that Guiler and Pole developed a mutually respectful and sympathetic relationship after Nin's death.

Also included is an excerpt from Barbara Kraft's memoir 'Anais Nin: The Last Days,' in which Kraft recalls her close relationship with Nin during her final illness. Kim Krizan illustrates how Nin's father's abuse and abandonment affected Nin's sense of style and self-beautification, which may have been a means to heal herself. Tristine Rainer shares a film treatment she wrote with Renate Druks about Druks' love affair with tragic sports hero Ronnie Knox. Rupert Pole's enigmatic father, Reginald, is examined in two different articles, and Satoshi Kanazawa analyzes the films of Maya Deren. There is a wealth of criticism, creative work, photographs, and reviews in Volume 8. A limited edition is due out at the end of February, and the price remains at $15.00.
